On February 20, 2026, Austria will select its entry for the final of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest on May 16 in Vienna in the ORF casting show “Vienna Calling.”
“The 2026 ESC in Vienna is the biggest event to be held in Austria next year. Our declared goal is to involve and inspire the whole country,” said ORF program director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz, explaining the decision to hold a national preliminary round again after 2016 to select the ESC representative, in which the audience will also be involved.
Acts now have until October 15 to apply for one of twelve tickets to the ORF 1 show “Vienna Calling – Who will sing for Austria?”, with Küniglberg deliberately not wanting to impose any restrictions in terms of style. “Whether it’s an English-language pop song, a German-language number, or a catchy dialect hit, ORF is opening the stage to the entire music scene in Austria,” according to Monday’s announcement. The only requirement, apart from the usual song contest formalities such as a maximum length of three minutes, a maximum of six performers on stage, and a minimum age of 16, is that the submitted song must not have been commercially released or performed before September 1, 2025.- source: vienna.at/picture:
