Wednesday will be rather rainy for most Austrians. The focus will be mainly on Carinthia, Styria, Burgenland, Lower Austria, and Vienna. Nevertheless, temperatures of up to 24 degrees are possible.
Early in the morning, rain will move from Italy (Austria’s southern neighbor) to southwestern Austria. Carinthia in particular could see heavy rainfall, which could also cause flooding. In the north and east, there will be brief sunny spells at first, but clouds will roll in early on most days. From Vorarlberg to Tyrol and central Carinthia, it will rain in the morning. Later, the rain will spread to the entire south and mountainous regions. Thunderstorms are also possible again. In the afternoon and evening, it will rain throughout Austria, and it will remain wet for the most part during the night.
The wind will blow from the east to southeast and freshen strongly in places. In the west, however, it will often remain light. Temperatures: 14 to 19 degrees in the mountains, 19 to 26 degrees in the lowlands, humid in places in Burgenland. At an altitude of 2000 meters, it will be 8 to 13 degrees.
Thursday: Rain in the south, clearing up in the west
On Thursday, the sky will be cloudy almost everywhere at first, with widespread rain. However, it will become drier and sunny in places as the day progresses, starting in the west. In the east and south, however, it will remain cloudy into the afternoon. From East Tyrol to Carinthia to Styria and on to southern and central Burgenland, there will still be rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. In the Danube region, there will be strong westerly winds at times. Temperatures will reach 16 to just under 25 degrees Celsius, with the warmest weather in the east and southeast.
Friday: Changeable with sun and rain
Friday will start off sunny, but clouds will roll in again. There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms. In the afternoon, the rain will become heavier in the west, spreading to the northern side of the Alps in the evening and to the east during the night. Temperatures will rise to between 17 and 25 degrees.
On Saturday, there will be a mix of sun and clouds. In the mountains and in the south, it will rain more frequently during the day, and in the evening also in the northeast. Temperatures will range between 16 and 24 degrees. On Sunday, there will be a mix of fog, sun, and clouds. In the eastern half of the country, there will be isolated showers at first, with more rain setting in in the west later in the evening. Highs will range from 17 to 24 degrees.
