Sunshine, warm winds, and temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius—before a cold front moves in next week, late summer will show itself from its best side once again this weekend.
After late summery, sunny weather at the weekend, a cold front will bring another change in the weather at the beginning of the week. This is the forecast from Geosphere Austria in its latest five-day trend. It will be windy, especially on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, as predicted on Thursday.
Late summer weekend with 30 degrees
On Friday, light early morning fog will quickly dissipate, giving way to uninterrupted sunny weather. The wind will be light, blowing from the east to the south. Early morning temperatures will range between 6 and 14 degrees, while daytime highs will reach 23 to 29 degrees.
On Saturday, the sunny weather will continue, with only a few thin high clouds appearing. The wind will be light to moderate from the south, with a slight foehn wind in the mountains, and the wind may also pick up temporarily on the eastern edge of the Alps. Early temperatures will range between 6 and 15 degrees, and daytime highs will reach 26 to 30 degrees.
On Sunday, under the influence of high pressure, the sun will shine widely throughout the country during the day. There will be few clouds in the sky, mostly just a few high cloud veils. In some valleys in the west, the wind will be gusty at times, with foehn winds reaching the valley floors, and on the eastern edge of the Alps, there will be moderate to brisk southeasterly winds in places. Early temperatures will range between nine and 19 degrees, while daytime highs will reach 25 to 30 degrees.
Weather change at the start of the week
On Monday, as a cold front approaches from the west, it will become increasingly rainy and cooler in Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Salzburg, and western Upper Austria. Elsewhere, many places will see very sunny and late summer weather again during the day. By the evening, clouds and local rain showers will spread further east. Before the front passes, the foehn wind will still be blowing briskly, at least in the valleys in the west. On the eastern edge of the Alps and in the far east, there will also be brisk winds from the southeast to southwest. Early temperatures will range between 11 and 19 degrees, while daytime highs will reach 25 to just under 30 degrees, with some areas in Vorarlberg already below 20 degrees.
On Tuesday, a disturbance will bring cloudy and rainy weather, particularly from the Tyrolean Oberland to the western Mostviertel and Waldviertel regions and south of them. In the course of the day, the focus of precipitation is likely to shift to the southern side of the Alps. In the other regions, the weather will be mostly changeable. The sun will shine most frequently in the southeast of the country. The wind will be brisk along and in the valleys of the northern side of the Alps, often in foehn gusts. Elsewhere, there will be light to moderate northeasterly to southerly winds. Early temperatures will range between 10 and 16 degrees, and daytime highs will reach 17 to 25 degrees.
