On October 5, 2025, at Hala Sportowa OSiR Praga Południe in Warsaw, Filipino basketball teams from across Europe gathered for a day of competition, camaraderie, and celebration of Filipino pride.
Before the games began, organizers reminded all participants of the tournament’s deeper purpose:
“Play with heart, fight with courage, and never forget that true victory is not only in winning but in giving your best and glorifying God in everything you do. Let’s make this tournament a showcase of teamwork, discipline, and faith. May this be a journey of growth, sportsmanship, and brotherhood.”
That message resonated throughout the day as players gave their all on the court, embodying the values of discipline, unity, and respect that define Filipino athletes worldwide.
The Filipino-Austrian team, “DABARKADS AUSTRIA,” who came home as Champion of the tournament, expressed heartfelt gratitude to their sponsors—OMAR TRANS and United Pinoy Basketball Austria—as well as to their supporters who stood behind them throughout the journey.
“We’re proud to bring this win home—not just for ourselves, but for every Filipino athlete in Europe. This victory belongs to the community that continues to inspire us,” said members of the Austrian team.

DABARKADS AUSTRIA is composed of:
Playing Coach Randy Unlayao and awarded the Finals MVP, Mythical Five awardees Boycee Cordero and Lawrence Sison, along with Bryson Lachica, Ruzzil Lachica, Harry Habit, Ariel De la Cruz, Nerman Gumapal, Marcial Tacla, JayJay Villanueva, and Zandy Ortilla. Omar Mahiya is also in the team as player and sponsor.
The event was made possible through the generous support of the Migrant Workers Office – Prague, the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, and was presented by the Polish-Pilipino Sports Alliance Foundation and ETE Consulting, together with PPSA Major Partners.
“Ligang Pinoy sa Europa” continues to strengthen bonds among Filipinos in Europe, proving that basketball is more than just a sport—it is a bridge that connects hearts, communities, and cultures across borders.
