The Pension Insurance Institution (PVA) warns of fraudulent text messages currently in circulation. It urges people not to disclose any sensitive data and to report suspicious messages immediately.
The fake messages claim that there is a new message with important information about pensions. A link in the text message takes recipients to a fake website where they are asked to enter personal data and account information, according to a press release issued on Friday.
Fake websites and spelling mistakes: how to recognize fraudulent text messages
The PVA urged people not to disclose any sensitive data and to report suspicious messages immediately. According to the PVA, fakes can be recognized by the web address provided, among other things. For example, addresses such as “pv-at.live/verif” are used, which do not correspond to the official website www.pv.at. The sender’s address also often contains spelling mistakes such as “Österreichische pensionlversicherung” (Austrian pension insurance).
The PVA made it clear that it never asks for data to be entered via text message and strongly advises against clicking on suspicious links or entering personal information.
