Postal service sets parcel record thanks to online shops and other factors

The Austrian Post delivered an incredible 232 million shipments last year – every Austrian received the equivalent of around 25 parcels, and the boom is likely to continue …

The domestic postal service set a new record in 2025: 232 million parcels were delivered in this country alone – an increase of 3.5 percent. This means that every Austrian between Lake Boden and Lake Neusiedl received more than 25 parcels delivered directly to their door.

In December, postal workers delivered an incredible daily maximum of up to 1.65 million parcels. And that was by no means all. As a group, the company once again broke the mega mark of over half a billion parcels: “These figures once again send out a very strong message,” says Peter Umundum, Deputy CEO and Head of Parcel Services.

There is no end in sight to the flood of parcels, as online shops are booming.

As an integrated logistics group, Austrian Post is “excellently positioned” – from Austria to Southeast and Eastern Europe to Turkey.

According to published figures, business is also booming internationally: 279 million shipments were transported outside Austria. In total, the Yellow Giant reaches around 150 million recipients in 13 countries.

Whether online shopping or e-commerce, business appears to be booming – and this trend is set to continue this year. There is little sign of the boom coming to an end, much to the chagrin of brick-and-mortar retailers.
