Austria is heading into an increasingly spring‑like Easter weekend, with plenty of sunshine and a noticeable warming trend that will culminate in early‑summer temperatures by Tuesday.

Good Friday: A Mixed but Mostly Calm Start

Good Friday begins with lingering clouds over the Alps. Light rain or snow may still fall in parts of Tyrol and Vorarlberg, with the snow line around 1,000 meters. Elsewhere, the day starts bright and dry. As the morning progresses, thicker clouds move across regions north of the Alpine ridge as well as the north and east of the country. Apart from a few isolated raindrops, conditions remain largely dry. From East Tyrol eastward, sunshine dominates through the afternoon. Early temperatures range from –1°C to +8°C, rising to 10–17°C during the day.

Holy Saturday: Increasing Sunshine After Passing Warm Front

A warm front brings clouds from the west across northern Austria, the north, and the east. The sun appears only intermittently, though most areas stay dry except for a few light showers in hilly and mountainous regions. By mid‑afternoon, sunshine returns from Vorarlberg and Tyrol. The south and southeast enjoy the most consistent sunshine throughout the day. Winds remain light to moderate, becoming brisk at times in Lower Austria, Vienna, and northern Burgenland. Highs reach 10–20°C.

Easter Sunday: Mild, Bright, and Pleasant

Easter Sunday delivers classic spring weather: abundant sunshine, mild air, and only harmless clouds. Winds stay light to moderate from varying directions. Morning temperatures sit between 0°C and 7°C, and all federal states warm up to 18–22°C in the afternoon.

Easter Monday: More Clouds in the North, Sun in the South

By Monday morning, cumulus clouds form north of the Alps, and additional cloud cover arrives from the west. Showers become more likely as the day progresses, though sunny intervals persist. The friendliest weather stretches from Vorarlberg across Tyrol and Carinthia to southeastern Styria. Winds pick up noticeably in the northern and eastern lowlands, blowing briskly from the west. Elsewhere, winds remain light to moderate. Temperatures again reach 18–22°C, with the warmest conditions in the south and southeast.

Tuesday: A Sunny Finale to the Holiday Period

The holidays end on a bright and warm note. Many regions enjoy clear skies, while southeastern Styria and southern Burgenland see thicker clouds that gradually dissolve during the day. After a cool start at 1–8°C, temperatures soar to between 16°C and a remarkable 24°C — the warmest readings of the week.
