Two neighboring countries, Germany and Switzerland, now the Czech Republic and Croatia follow put Austria on the red entry list. As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague announced on Friday, the new regulation will already apply from next Monday (13.09.2021).

Unvaccinated persons must show a negative PCR test when entering the Czech Republic and go into quarantine. This can then only be ended on the fifth day at the earliest with a second negative PCR test result. Those who have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days, on the other hand, “only” have to fill out an online form. The Czech Republic relies on the EU’s digital CoV certificate (“green passport”), which can also be used to gain entry to hotels, restaurants and swimming pools.

There are exceptions to this strict rule for so-called local border traffic. These apply to short-term stays in the Czech Republic and to cross-border commuters.

There is also reason for caution in the Czech Republic. Recently, the number of cases has been slowly rising again. Of the country’s approximately 11.7 million inhabitants, about 5.8 million are fully vaccinated.
