From Saturday to Sunday, 1,588 new Corona cases were registered. There had been 1,678 on Sunday last week.
Since the start of the Corona pandemic, 735,890 positive test results have been registered in Austria. 703,682 have since recovered. Eight new deaths related to the virus were reported from Saturday to Sunday.
As of today, this means that 10,969 people across Austria have died as a result of the virus. Currently, 860 people are undergoing hospital treatment for the coronavirus. Of these, 229 are being cared for in intensive care units.
The number of new infections recorded is lower than the seven-day average (1,694 cases). The seven-day incidence was 132.7 cases per 100,000 population. As of Sunday, there were 21,239 active cases in Austria, 241 more than on Saturday.
Highest incidence in Upper Austria
The province with the highest 7-day incidence is currently Upper Austria with 182.6, followed by Vienna, Salzburg and Lower Austria (176.5, 126.4 and 117.7, respectively). Carinthia (97.5), Styria (94.9), Tyrol (94.5), Vorarlberg (94.2) and Burgenland (70.9) follow.
60.3 percent are fully immunized
9,115 vaccinations have been carried out on Saturday. In total, 5,706,093 have already received at least a partial vaccination, according to the E-vaccination passport data: That’s 63.9 percent of the population. 5,388,466 people, or 60.3 percent of Austrians, are already fully immunized.
The highest vaccination coverage rate (fully immunized) is in Burgenland with 67.9 percent. In Lower Austria, 63 percent of the population is vaccinated, and in Styria, 60.9 percent. After Vorarlberg (59.3), Vienna (59), Tyrol (58.7), Carinthia (56.8) and Salzburg (56.7), Upper Austria brings up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 55.5 percent.
