After the highest Monday value since the beginning of the pandemic, 7,712 new Corona infections were registered in Austria from Monday to Tuesday. Today’s new infections are below the past seven-day average of 8,411, and the seven-day incidence is currently 661.44.

In hospitals, the situation has worsened significantly within the past 24 hours. Thus, 2,152 patients are currently being treated, which is an increase of 150 patients. This is the highest increase within one day this year.

There are 403 patients in the intensive care units. Here, too, there was a significant increase of 26 patients. There are also 39 new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 11,554 so far. The number of active cases rises to 79,239.

In the past 24 hours, 318,359 new PCR tests have been performed. This results in a positive rate of 2.42 percent.

Immunizations
Immunization numbers continued to be high on Monday. 40,389 people got vaccinated – more than on any Monday since early July. Of those, well over half (24,211) got the “third prick.” But the 10,792 new first-time vaccinations are also a comparatively high figure for a Monday, which traditionally tends to be rather weak in vaccinations.
