Austria plans to introduce mandatory vaccination in February. Media now report further details of the law. According to the report, a penalty is to be imposed every three months. A final warning is to come beforehand from the health minister in a separate letter.

Austria plans to make refusers pay every three months after compulsory vaccinations come into force in February. This is reported by several media in the country. According to the report, the corresponding draft law provides for payments of 600 euros – and every three months. The deadline is to be March 15. Those who cannot provide proof of vaccination by that date would have to pay.

As the media – such as the “Kurier” or “Heute” – continue to report, pregnant women, people with certain health impairments, children under 14 and convalescents (for six months) are exempted from the vaccination requirement. In addition, the law apparently also regulates how often people must be vaccinated in the future. Thus, the first vaccination is mandatory from February 1. The second vaccination would have to take place within a maximum of 42 days after the first vaccination. People will then have another minimum of 120 days and a maximum of 270 days to get the booster, according to the statement.

All unvaccinated people will then reportedly be asked by the health minister personally by letter on February 15 to catch up on their vaccinations. The deadline for this will then be March 15 – the first payment date of any penalty, according to reports.

Calculated the refusal costs thus in one year alone 2400 euro penalty, in addition fees can come, so that the sum could increase up to 3600 euro. In the last step or with continuous refusal substitute custodial sentences are conceivable. The law is initially to be limited until the end of January 2024.
