The government is expected to announce further relaxation of the corona measures today, Friday.
Today, Friday, the Austrian government could announce in a press conference further relaxation of measures against the coronavirus.
According to Salzburger Nachrichten and DiePresse, this could be about easing the obligation to wear masks.
In view of the calls for regional easing, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober is holding out the prospect of doing away with the wearing of mask.
According tot he news reports, in the future the mask obligation could only apply where it is “absolutely necessary” – for example, in all places where the minimum distance cannot be maintained. Specifically, this would affect the catering trade, events in closed rooms as well as the reception area of hotels, the said newspapers reported.
The Salzburger Nachrichten also reported that the government, headed by Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, will announce new regulations on Friday afternoon. In addition to relief for masks, the “SN” reported that, for example, the closing of the gastronomy will be moved from 23:00 to one o’clock. The four-person-per-table rule in the gastronomy sector will be dropped too.
Health Minister Anschober said in the ORF-“ZiB 2” on Thursday evening, that further handling of entry restrictions could be taken as early as next week. On June 15, Austria’s borders with Germany and Switzerland are to be opened. The federal government is also planning a joint end to travel restrictions with Austria’s eastern neighbours, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, in mid-June. How things will continue with Italy, for example, is still open.
