The number of new corona infections in Germany reported to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day has once again reached an all-time high. Health offices reported 248,838 cases in 24 hours, according to RKI data Friday morning. A week ago, there were 190 148 recorded new infections. The RKI gave the seven-day incidence as 1349.5 – also an all-time high. For comparison: the previous day, the value was 1283.2.
A week ago, the Germany-wide incidence was 1073.0 (previous month: 239.9). The current figures reflect the status of the RKI dashboard from Friday morning, 05.00. Experts assume a high and further increasing number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data, among other things because testing capacities and health offices are at their limit in many places. In addition, some cities and counties have been reporting problems with the transmission of Corona case numbers for days.
Across Germany, 170 deaths were recorded within 24 hours, the same number as a week ago. The RKI counted since the beginning of the pandemic 10. 671,602 proven infections with SARS-CoV-2. The actual total number is probably significantly higher because many infections are not detected.
