Starting tomorrow, March 1, parking must be paid for throughout Vienna. When it comes to the rules, some traps can get expensive. This is something to watch out for.
The rush for the Parkpickerl was enormous last weekend. The sticker costs 120 euros per year – is now also required in the districts of Floridsdorf, Donaustadt, Liesing, Hietzing, and all of Simmering.
Unlike in the past, the parking sticker will be controlled throughout Vienna from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting tomorrow. Until now, people were allowed to stay in the short-stay parking zone for three hours, but as of March 1, it will only be two hours: Watch out when combining parking tickets! You can park for a quarter of an hour free of charge, but you need a parking ticket; a parking meter alone is not enough. Paid parking tickets may not be combined with 15-minute tickets.
New Handyparken customers should register at home at their leisure. Already from the first minute without a parking ticket is punished in Vienna.
Watch out for parking zones in the vicinity: Private cars belonging to non-residents are not allowed to park here. Signs are only located at the district boundaries; yellow lines mark parking bans. Parking is prohibited unless at least two lanes (5.20 m) remain free. In a one-way street, one road (2.60 m) is sufficient. A distance of five meters must be maintained from a crosswalk. E-cars need a parking permit or parking sticker, but e-mopeds do not.
