Viennese Mayor Michael Ludwig maintained that for the time being, no immediate cause for this – a total of 4,100 infections have been registered so far.
Vienna. In Vienna, the precautionary measures regarding coronavirus could be tightened up again if the situation requires it – similar to the situation in Upper Austria, where, for example, the wearing of a mouth and nose protector in official buildings is again mandatory. Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) explained this in a press conference on Monday. For the time being, however, no corresponding steps are planned.
“The corona virus will accompany us even longer”, Ludwig emphasized. He had always pleaded for the possibility to react regionally, if necessary. “The important thing is that we always know very quickly what the triggers are, which reference persons there have been and that we quickly narrow down the clusters and take measures. That’s working very well at the moment.”
That’s why he sees no immediate reason to implement similar measures in Vienna as in Upper Austria. “But it cannot be ruled out,” he added – for example, if there is a significant accumulation of cases.
In the past few days, more new infections had been registered in Vienna than recently, i.e. the average had levelled off at around 20 new cases. On Saturday about 53 infections were reported. Currently, 4,100 positive tests have been confirmed. From Sunday to Monday, 21 new infections were discovered.
The number of deaths related to the virus in the federal capital is 198, and a total of 3,555 people have recovered.
