The novel coronavirus will probably accompany us longer than we would like: The World Health Organization (WHO) is convinced that an early eradication of the virus is not in sight “We must learn to live with the virus,” said emergency aid coordinator Mike Ryan on Thursday evening in Geneva. “We will not be able to eliminate or eradicate the virus in the foreseeable future.
Rather, people would have to learn to live with the virus and return to some degree of normality. Ryan called on countries around the world to use every measure available to break the chain of infection. This would include temporarily closing bars or clubs or limiting the number of visitors in case of emergency.
“When the infection rate in a society is high, activities that bring many people together, especially indoors, will cause further transmission of the disease,” Ryan said.
