The heat will soon be back. After the bearable temperatures of the past few days, heatwaves are also coming to Austria again. The American weather model GFS predicts up to 40 degrees for Central Europe. According to this forecast, it will be between 38 and 40 degrees in the east and north of Austria on July 15.
The current record in Austria is 40.5 degrees, according to wetter.at. In the middle of Spain, it is supposed to get even hotter with over 44 degrees. France expects 40 degrees on this day.
Summer is already over 40 degrees too hot
According to U.S. experts, the heat will flow directly from North Africa across the Mediterranean Sea toward Europe next week. At about 1,500 meters, air masses of 30 degrees should be transported. When this air descends near us, it can heat up to 40 degrees, according to the model.
According to climate monitoring by ZAMG, Austria was up to 4.1 degrees too hot compared to the average. This year’s previous temperature record was 36.7 degrees (June 29, Bad Deutsch-Altenburg, Lower Austria). On average, many provincial capitals report twice as many heat days (over 30 degrees). It is already a summer of weather extremes.
