Mask obligation again – For coworkers in hospitals and nursing homes, a continuous mask obligation is prescribed, reports the APA Monday night, referring to the new regulation.

Visiting restrictions in hospitals – In addition, the number of visits is reduced. According to the new Vienna ordinance, only three PCR-tested visitors are allowed per patient per day.

Additional visits by another person are only possible if they are necessary for and perform support services for the patient in question.

A mask obligation in supermarkets is currently not an issue. Until recently, Vienna had also consistently taken a stricter Corona route. Now, the FFP2 mask obligation in public transport also still applies.

“We have a new situation. It is the first time we have had to observe a wave in July,” Ludwig said at the start of his remarks on Thursday. These increased numbers would be significantly reflected in hospitals. Especially employees in the medical and nursing fields have been pushed to the limit for the past two years.

In contrast to the rest of the country, Vienna has an FFP2 obligation in public transport, and most of the population also accepts this. The upcoming vacation season, however, poses a particular challenge because this travel activity could make it easier for the virus to spread. “From this point of view, it will be necessary to continue to follow the consistent Viennese path,” the city chief explained.

It will also be necessary to get the testing system back on track and to do more advertising for the fourth stitch.” – This applies to all age groups. That’s why the city’s vaccination offer is also to be revamped.

The new measures would apply where there were groups in need of special protection. A maximum of three tested visitors per patient will be allowed in the future. This should result in a reduction in the flow of visitors. In this way, the “consistent Viennese way” can be continued.

Further observations will be made in the coming weeks. Different measures have already been considered. These could then be rolled out at the beginning of August, which is about it. Ludwig held back at first. For example, an extension of the mask obligation to the retail trade is “certainly worth considering if the wave continues to develop,” Ludwig only hinted at the measures that could be tightened in August when asked.
