CoV vaccine was delivered to Austria on Tuesday and adjusted to the Omicron variant BA.4/BA.5 is now available in Vienna provincial vaccination centers starting Tuesday.
The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is freely available as a third vaccination or booster for individuals twelve years and older. The desired vaccine does not have to be specified when registering for the appointment, it was said on Wednesday from the office of Vienna’s health councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ).
The original vaccine is used for children under twelve years and for first or second vaccinations. In addition to the BA.4/BA.5 vaccine from Pfizer, the BA.1 vaccine is still available, and from the manufacturer, Moderna is also a variant adapted to BA.1.
“We only call off as much vaccine at a time as is expected to be needed and not all at once,” it was explained from the Hacker office. According to the report, in the past 30 days, an average of 29 people in Vienna had their first vaccination, 36 people their second, 250 people their third, and 1,116 people their fourth every day.
7.5 percent of the Viennese had already been boostered with a fourth sting after the three-part primary immunization. In Lower Austria, the vaccine is already available from Saturday.
