Two thousand seven hundred ninety-eight new Corona infections were recorded in Austria on Sunday. The Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) announced this on Monday.

On Sunday, 2,798 new Corona infections were recorded in Austria, AGES reported Monday. The number of new cases was thus below the average of 5,295 recorded over the past seven days, and the number of active cases fell to 57,967, down by 5,264 from the previous day. As of Monday morning, 1,885 people were in the hospital, down by 97 from the number reported the day before, and 98 people were being cared for in intensive care units, down by 21 from a week ago.

Fewer than 3,000 new Corona infections reported
In these past seven days, 42 deaths were also registered. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 20,981 lives in Austria since its outbreak, according to AGES.
