If you’re smart about planning your vacation days around holidays in 2023, you’ll be able to take extra long and frequent days off next year.
2022 may not be over, but many are already planning next year’s vacation. And if you’re smart about it, you can have extra time off because the holidays fall especially favorably in 2023.
If you have 43 vacation days open next year, that means you can have a total of 95 days off. If you want to roll that over on your tongue: that’s three months!
However, since only very few people have that many vacation days left, we’ll tell you how you can get the most free days out of your vacation days:
At the beginning of the year, there is a long weekend because Epiphany falls on a Friday, January 6. With four vacation days, you get a total of nine free days. You could hardly start the new year in a better way.
After a long dry spell, Easter continues in April. Thanks to Easter Monday on April 10, nine days off in one piece only takes four more days.
You can already mark May red in your calendar because, thanks to the three public holidays, vacations pay off significantly in the merry month. The national holiday on May 1 falls on a Monday, four vacation days, and already you are for nine days out of work.
Who wants to make it only a beautiful four-day weekend in the middle of May for only one vacation day because Ascension Day on May 18 is a Thursday? If you add three more vacation days, you’ll have nine days off again.
If you take eight vacation days over Pentecost (Saturday, May 27 to Monday, May 29) and Corpus Christi (Thursday, June 8), you will have 16 days off at once.
Assumption Day on August 15 falls on a Tuesday, so there is another long weekend with only one vacation day or three more eight days off.
The same applies to the national holiday on October 26. This falls on a Thursday in 2023. The following week is interrupted by All Saints’ Day on Wednesday, November 1. If you invest two more vacation days, you have seven days off. Or you can go all out and schedule eight vacation days around the two holidays, which adds up to 16 days out.
Immaculate Conception on Friday, December 8, extends your second Advent weekend without additional days of vacation. If that’s not enough, take the four days before and allow yourself nine days off.
