At the beginning of the new week, a low-pressure system increasingly shifts from northern Italy towards Sardinia. Thus, in the Alpine region, the high-pressure influence from the British Isles strengthens, and the weather calms down again. Until midweek, there will be little change in this weather situation.
Monday will be mostly cloudy, with clouds making way for sunshine in the northeast and later in the south. In the mountains, a few flakes will fall from time to time, but significant new snow is not expected anywhere. The wind will blow briskly north and east of the Alps and at Lake Constance, in exposed areas, also strongly from north to east. It makes the temperatures of -3 to +4 degrees seem even colder.
Some residual clouds or high fog patches persist on Tuesday but remain dry from the morning. In most of the country, it loosens up during the day, and at least at times, the sun shines; only in the southern basins, the dull gray continues to be stubborn, and in the east more clouds move through again from noon. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from east to northeast and become milder; the temperatures will rise to 0 to +7 degrees.
Wednesday will often be sunny on the northern side of the Alps, although here and there, high fog patches will make themselves felt. Compact clouds will move along, and the cloudy weather character will dominate south of the main Alpine ridge, especially in Carinthia; here, it will snow a little sporadically from noon. With weak to moderate, in the Danube region also brisk easterly winds, temperatures will continue to rise hesitantly, with highs between 1 and 8 degrees.
Also, on Thursday, the division of the weather will continue. While the sun will often shine on the northern side of the Alps, away from the local high fog, clouds will predominate from East Tyrol to southern and central Burgenland. Occasionally, a few flakes will fall from them; the lowest areas also drop during the day. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from easterly directions. The highs will be between 1 and 10 degrees, depending on the sun.
