They’re tantalizingly delicious and, more importantly, highly sought after. So it’s hard to believe that this popular citrus fruit is supposed to be full of toxins…. We clear up!

Tangerines have many good qualities and are healthy for our body- you would think…. But not every food is as it seems at first glance – including the tangerine.

Dangerous poison
Tangerines ripen in winter and are the ideal supplier of vitamins in winter. The vitamin C it contains strengthens the immune system and prevents colds. But the citrus fruits harbour a danger:

They are treated with the pesticide chlorpyrifos, which can cause immense bodily damage! The agent is banned in Germany and is banned from domestic agriculture.

This is how you can protect yourself!

But this does not protect us consumers: tangerines are imported mainly because they do not thrive in the German climate. Preferably, citrus fruits in domestic supermarkets come from Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal. The pesticide is still used there, reports Der Spiegel.

The problem with chlorpyrifos is that it kills plant pests and our brain cells. Chlorpyrifos, for example, triggers long-term damage in the brains of unborn babies, which reduces the intelligence quotient and is irreversible.
