So many children in Austria already had Corona

The corona numbers in Austria continue to rise. Almost 50,000 people in the country have tested positive so far, including around 3,700 children.

As the Federal Ministry of the Interior announced on Monday, there have been 48,896 positive test results in Austria so far. As of today (9.30 a.m.), 818 people throughout Austria have died as a result of the virus and 39,058 have recovered. At present 488 persons are in hospital treatment because of the virus and 101 of them are in intensive care.

The new infections are divided among the provinces of Austria as follows: Burgenland 9, Carinthia 12, Lower Austria 97, Upper Austria 106, Salzburg 23, Styria 32, Tyrol 106, Vorarlberg 50 and Vienna 315. 750 new infections have been recorded in Austria in the last 24 hours.

According to the official Covid-19 dashboard of the Ministry of Health, there are currently almost 9,000 active cases in Austria. 8,984 persons (as of 11:00 am) are currently suffering from corona. Most of them are located in the federal capital, where there are currently 4,515 active patients. Also in Lower Austria (1,196) the number of active cases is in the four-digit range.

In all other federal states, the number of active corona patients is in the three-digit range. In Upper Austria 948 people are currently suffering from the virus, in Tyrol 751, in Styria 505, in Vorarlberg 391, in Salzburg 332, in Burgenland 182 and in Carinthia 164.

The number of children who have ever tested positive has also risen steadily in recent months. Almost 3,700 children have now been infected with the corona virus since the outbreak in Austria. 2,971 children are between five and 14 years old, 726 are younger than five years.

Most of those who have ever tested positive (9,234) are between 15 and 24 years old. This is followed by the group of 25 to 34-year-olds (9,018) and those aged 45 to 54 (8,016). 1,306 persons tested positive are older than 84 years.
