In a spirit of community and compassion, the Association of Pangasinenses and their religious group, the Our Lady of Manaoag, carried out a meaningful initiative to support the Church and local outreach in Vienna. By joining the confirmation candidates of the Parish of Herz Jesu, Töllergasse, (1210 Vienna) in their recent Thanksgiving Mass and social action, they set a shining example of unity in the face of adversity. This collaborative effort celebrated faith and provided crucial assistance to flood victims in Austria, particularly in Lower Austria.

The Role of the Church

The local church plays a pivotal role in societal well-being, often as a beacon of hope in times of need. The collaboration between the Filipino community and the Parish of Herz Jesu exemplifies how faith can foster meaningful social actions. Through joint Thanksgiving Mass services, parishioners can strengthen their bonds while reaching out to dismantle social challenges.

Filipino Delicacies on Display

One of the standout features of the social action was the offering of traditional Filipino delicacies. The Association of Pangasinenses treated their Austrian guests to a delightful array of dishes, including: Noodles, Filipino Sweets, Fried Chicken, Rice.

The culinary offerings satisfied the taste buds and served as a platform for cultural exchange, bridging the gap between Filipino traditions and Austrian customs.

Proceeds for a Noble Cause

Proceeds from this event were directly allocated to CARITAS of the Diocese of Vienna, which manages donations for the flood victims. By ensuring that all funds raised during the Thanksgiving Mass are dedicated to this cause, the Filipino community showcased their commitment to humanitarian aid and social responsibility. Their actions encapsulate core Christian values, underlining the significance of helping the less fortunate in the community.

Upcoming Celebrations

The Filipino community is eager to continue their spiritual journey with the upcoming Feast of Our Lady of Manaoag, set for October 6, 2024, at the Filipino Catholic Chaplaincy in the 10th district of Vienna. In preparation for this auspicious event, a nine-day novena will commence on September 27, 2024, at 5:45 PM, culminating in the celebration of the Holy Mass. This series of devotional practices nourishes the spirit and invites collective prayer and reflection among the community.

The collaboration between the Association of Pangasinenses, the Parish of Herz Jesu, and the hardworking confirmation candidates illustrates the profound impact of faith and community action, especially in times of crisis. The support extended to the flood victims underscores the shared responsibility of fostering hope and compassion in society. As the Filipino community prepares to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Manaoag, they remind us that we can make a difference together.
