In Italy, new restrictions were imposed during the night to Tuesday. A closing hour from midnight is introduced for bars and restaurants. After 21 o’clock no guests are allowed to stand in front of restaurants, as the regulation states. Discos will remain closed, private celebrations such as weddings and christenings may only take place with a maximum of 30 guests. Congresses and fairs are still allowed.
For celebrations at home, the government in Rome advises not to invite more than six guests. If you receive people at home with whom you do not live together, it is advised to wear face masks. School trips are forbidden.
A maximum of 1,000 people should participate in sports events in stadiums and open-air events. In cinemas and theaters the maximum number of people is still 200.
The new regulation confirms the compulsory wearing of mask outdoors, which was introduced last week. Outdoor jogging and cycling is allowed without a mask. The quarantine period for symptom-free infected persons is reduced from 14 to ten days. Premier Conte ruled out a lockdown at the state level despite the increasing number of cases of infection.
The Italian health authorities recorded a slight decrease in new cases on Monday, but the number of fatalities increased. 4,619 new infections were registered in 24 hours, compared to 5,456 the day before. In addition, 39 deaths were reported, compared to 26 on Sunday.
