Vienna, 18 February 2025 – The United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) and the International Culture Cooperation (ICC) successfully hosted a captivating presentation on “Timeless and Dynamic Chinese Opera Music” by Prof. Wang Renyuan at the United Nations Vienna. The event, held from 14:00 to 17:00, featured an insightful discussion on the rich heritage of Chinese opera, complemented by live performances that brought its timeless artistry to life.

A highlight of the program was the segment “China Opera Meets Jazz in Vienna”, featuring an exceptional performance by renowned musicians Bertl Mayer and Christian Havel, who blended jazz elements with traditional Chinese opera, creating a unique and dynamic musical fusion.

The successful realization of this cultural collaboration was made possible through the initiative of Ms. Yao Yao and Mr. Shin Yi, whose engagement in establishing contact with UNWG laid the groundwork for this meaningful event. Their efforts fostered an exchange of artistic traditions that strengthened cross-cultural understanding.

Moderated by John Herzog in English with consecutive translation by Helena, the program engaged an international audience in an afternoon of cultural appreciation and exchange. Attendees included UNCAV Secretary General Hermann Kroiher, who demonstrated UNCAV’s support for UNWG’s initiatives.

As part of the segment “Culture Connects, Support for UNWG,” ICC President Paul Shreivogel presented a generous donation to UNWG, which Ms. Zhou Ruiqing, UNWG Art Committee Chair, received. This reinforces the shared commitment to humanitarian efforts through cultural diplomacy.
