Pure sunshine after a frosty morning
Wednesday presents itself from its best side. Even in the morning, the sky over the city is almost completely cloudless. Only the early hours of the morning are still quite chilly. It was locally frosty, especially in the outer districts, where temperatures fell below freezing. However, the air will warm up considerably during the course of the day. By the afternoon, temperatures will rise to around 15 to 16 degrees Celsius. The wind will mostly blow only lightly from the south-east, at most occasionally making itself felt a little. All in all, perfect weather for a long walk or a first coffee break outdoors.
Tomorrow, Thursday: almost early summer-like warmth
Thursday will bring even higher temperatures. It may be a little foggy in some parts of the city in the early morning, especially in valleys and hollows. However, the sun will prevail here too by mid-morning at the latest. With a moderate south-easterly wind, temperatures will rise to around 19 degrees Celsius. This means that it has never been this warm this year. These values are usually more aligned with the end of April, not the first third of March.
Friday: Still sunny and exceptionally mild
The stable area of high pressure will remain in place on Friday. The first few hours of the day could still be characterized by fog or high fog, but the sun will soon prevail. The sky will remain mostly clear throughout the day, with only a few thin veil clouds appearing occasionally. The wind from the southeast will freshen up a little as the day progresses, reaching lively gusts in places. Temperatures will rise again to around 19 degrees Celsius – well above average for mid-March.
Spring-like, but windy Saturday and Sunday
Saturday will bring mostly sunny weather. In the morning hours, there could be fog again in places, and as the day progresses, more extensive patches of cloud will pass through at times. Nevertheless, it will remain dry and friendly. The southeasterly wind will become noticeably stronger, with some brisk gusts. Highs will reach around 18 degrees Celsius.
Sunday will also be mostly sunny. The sky will mostly be covered with thin clouds. A brisk south-easterly wind will continue to blow, which may strengthen as the day progresses. Temperatures will remain exceptionally high at around 19 degrees Celsius this time of year.
The weather situation changes for the new week
While the sunny and warm spring weather will likely continue up to and including Sunday, the signs could change noticeably at the start of the week. The weather models are not yet in agreement, but initial forecasts point to a significantly colder and more changeable weather phase. Cold air could flow into Central Europe, especially from Northern Europe. Even a temporary return of snowfall – especially at higher altitudes or with heavy showers – cannot be completely ruled out from today’s perspective. Specific details cannot yet be reliably determined, but the probability of a temporary temperature drop increases.
