In the morning, heavy rain will spread from the southwest, covering almost the entire country. The snow line is between 600 and 1500 meters. The snow will fall particularly deep in the Tyrolean lowlands, Salzburg, Upper Austria and the Waldviertel (Lower Austria). Parts of Carinthia may also see snow in some valleys due to the high precipitation intensity.

West of Innsbruck will remain predominantly dry during the day and the precipitation will generally decrease in the late afternoon. The wind will be mostly weak to moderate. However, it will freshen noticeably from the northwest from the Vienna Woods to Seewinkel (Burgenland) in the afternoon. Temperatures will be below average for mid-March: mostly between 3 and 11 degrees. At an altitude of 2000 meters, temperatures will range from minus 5 degrees in the Tennengebirge (Salzburg) to minus 1 degree on the Koralpe (Styria/Carinthia).

Saturday: Cloudy and cool weather conditions continue
Saturday will bring slight improvement in the weather. It will remain gray and wet in many regions. In the morning it will rain mainly in Carinthia, East Tyrol, Salzburger Land, Styria and the south of Burgenland. Later, the rain will move further into Upper Austria and northern Burgenland.

There will be drier phases west of Salzburg, especially in Montafon (Vorarlberg), North Tyrol and Pinzgau (Salzburg). The sun may even make a brief appearance here. The snow line will be between 500 and 1100 meters. The wind will blow from north to east and will be moderate. Temperatures will remain calm, reaching a maximum of 2 to just under 10 degrees. At an altitude of 2000 meters, minus 2 to plus 2 degrees will be measured.

Sunday: Still lots of clouds, scattered rain and snow
The weather will remain changeable on Sunday. Many clouds will dominate the sky and there will be isolated rain, sleet or snowfall. The snow line will vary from region to region: in the north it may snow down to around 500 meters, while in the south it will only turn white above 1000 meters. Rays of sunshine are rare, with the best chance of clearing up in the inner Alps between the Inn Valley (Tyrol) and the Enns Valley (Styria). The wind will blow moderately from north to east. Maximum temperatures between 2 and 11 degrees.

Monday: alternating sun and clouds, still cold
The weather will be a little friendlier at the start of the week. Sunny spells will alternate with extensive fields of cloud. Occasionally it may rain or snow a little. The cold northerly wind will pick up briskly. It will be frosty, especially in the morning hours. It will also remain calm during the day at 1 to 8 degrees, up to 10 degrees in the west and south.

Tuesday: High pressure brings more sunshine
High pressure will prevail on Tuesday and the weather will be mostly sunny. However, temperatures will remain subdued. It will be frosty again in the morning, with temperatures rising to a maximum of 3 to 12 degrees in the afternoon, with 12 degrees reaching mainly in the west. The wind will be light to moderate from the east.
