Filipino-Austrian musician Robin Roda, a descendant of legendary composer Johann Strauss, led a moving commemorative concert on 6 April 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Yamaha Music School on Schleiergassegasse 20, 1100 Vienna. The event celebrated the 200th anniversary of Strauss’s musical legacy while raising funds for the European Network of Filipino Diaspora-Austria (ENFiD-Austria).
Roda, known for blending classical Viennese tradition with Filipino musical elements, performed interpretations of Strauss’s works. His performance anchored an afternoon filled with community, culture, and purpose. The concert wasn’t just a tribute to a musical giant—it was a platform to spotlight Austro-Filipino talent and heritage.
The concert featured many special guests, including Annabelle Roda, Angelique, Angelo and Angelyn Climaco, Rubert and Jaimee Palang, Mia Oezetman, Hope Sto. Domingo, and the youngest emcee of the event, Alice Ocfemia Tzakovski, who charmed the audience with her poise and enthusiasm.

In her opening message, Marizel Rojas, president of ENFiD-Austria, expressed gratitude to the children and parents for their commitment and time. She emphasized the importance of cultural events like this, calling them “a way to empower children through music while celebrating our shared heritage.”
Ambassador to Austria Evangelina Arroyo-Bernas also addressed the crowd. She praised the young performers and the Filipino community in Austria for continuously contributing to and uplifting Filipino culture abroad. “You make us proud,” she said, applauding the fusion of tradition and innovation.
The audience, a mix of Austrians and Filipinos, responded warmly to the performances. Many expressed appreciation for the quality of the musical presentations and the children’s visible joy on stage.
Beyond the music, the event served a greater purpose. Funds raised during the concert will go toward ENFiD-Austria’s cultural and educational initiatives, supporting diaspora projects that preserve identity and foster talent in the next generation of Austro-Filipinos.
Those who attended left with a deeper appreciation of Strauss’s enduring influence and the vibrant cultural contributions of the Filipino community in Austria. The event was more than a celebration—it was a statement of unity, identity, and hope through music.
