In France, the coronavirus situation remains extremely tense – the pressure on intensive care units is growing. More than 58,000 people received a positive result on a coronavirus test the day before, said the director of the national health authority, Jerome Salomon, yesterday. This is a new record in the country of 67 million people.
Within 24 hours, almost 450 people were admitted to intensive care units, he added. “One out of four patients admitted to intensive care units will not survive the coming weeks,” he said. According to Health Minister Olivier Veran, out of 100 people who test positive for corona virus, 90 develop no symptoms or only mild symptoms and do not need to go to hospital. About eight percent would be hospitalized with severe courses, and two percent would end up in intensive care with severe courses.
Currently, there are transfers of patients to less severely affected regions in the country. A further 200 transfers are planned in the coming days.
