In view of the massive increase in corona infections, there is a growing fear in France that hospitals will be overloaded.
In France, more than 40,000 people have already died of corona infection. With 306 new deaths within 24 hours, the number of victims in the country rose to 40,169 corona deaths on Saturday, according to the health authorities. The number of new infections on Saturday was not reported; the day before, it had reached a new high with more than 60,000 infections within 24 hours.
In view of the massive increase in corona infections, fears of hospital overload are growing in France. There are currently 4410 patients in France’s intensive care units, compared to 3721 patients at the beginning of the week. Patients from the Grand-East region have already been transferred to Saarland in Germany.
At the end of October, another lockdown came into force in France to contain the pandemic. People have only one hour a day to do their shopping, go to the doctor or take a walk within a radius of one kilometer around their homes. Schools and kindergartens are still open, however, and many sectors of the economy, such as the construction industry, do not have to take a break.
