Typhoon “Vamco” caused severe flooding in the Philippine capital Manila. Numerous streets of the metropolis of twelve million inhabitants were now highly flooded, some inhabitants were trapped on the roofs of their houses. The storm reached the island state yesterday with wind speeds of up to 155 kilometers per hour.
At least one person was killed by the typhoon, according to the civil defense of the Southeast Asian country. This death was recorded in the province of Camarines Norte on the island of Luzon, where three other people were also missing because of the typhoon.

Before the typhoon arrived, thousands of people had been taken to safety. According to the civil defense, about 50,000 people were ordered to leave their homes. “Vamco” was already the third typhoon within three weeks to sweep across the country. The previous typhoons “Molave” and “Goni” had caused great destruction in the Philippines. These two typhoons had killed dozens of people.
