The Philippine government will lift starting May 1, 2021 its entry ban on foreign nationals. This was announced by Malacañang on Friday. All those coming from India will not be permitted to enter the country.
The Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) has lifted the entry ban on foreigners through Resolution 113, as health experts noted the decreasing number of reported coronavirus infections in recent days.
These are the requirements for entry as approved by the inter-agency task force on Thursday. Palace spokesman Harry Roque announced this in a press briefing.
- Foreign nationals must have a valid and existing visa at the time of entry, except for those qualified under the Balikbayan Program
- A pre-booked accommodation for at least 7 nights in an accredited quarantine hotel or facility should be presented
- A COVID 19 test will be done in their quarantine facility on the sixth day from the date of their arrival
The task force, however, maintained that travelers from India were barred from entering the country until 14 May following the detection of a “double mutant” Covid-19 variant, which was blamed for the deadly surge in infections in the South Asian country.
