The final of the 65th Eurovision Song Contest is complete: On Thursday evening in Rotterdam, Switzerland, Portugal, San Marino and Iceland, among others, qualified in the second semifinal for the big show on Saturday evening. On the other hand, Austria, Denmark and Poland, among others, were eliminated.
In total, 17 countries competed in the second semifinal for ten final spots that were still available. The semifinal show featured many of the ingredients that have made the ESC a global brand over the years – including fire fountains and wind machines.
The competition was too strong: Austria unfortunately did not make it into the grand ESC final on Thursday night. Vincent Bueno could not prevail with his ballad “Amen”.
