There is a change of the Corona traffic light in Austria this week. The Corona Commission switched the traffic light to yellow in almost all the federal states with the exception of Vorarlberg which had been turned to orange.
A favorable factor for the development is that 40 percent of the population has already been vaccinated. Among the over-65s, the figure is around 70 percent.
The situation in intensive care units has also eased considerably. The highest occupancy rate is recorded in Vienna at just under 18 percent, while the critical mark is 33 percent. Despite the openings, a further decline from 13.5 to a level of seven percent is forecast nationwide.
The clarification of cases is working out quite well. In 70 percent of cases, the source of infection is known throughout Austria. There are now hardly any differences between the federal states. The situation is different for asymptomatic cases. In Burgenland, 49 percent belong to this category, whereas in Styria only 19 percent do.
