Limits for data in the EU ▶ Overseas roaming
If you travel within the EU, you can make calls with your cell phone just like at home. However, there are often limits on data volume even in other EU countries. If you exceed them, it will be expensive. The same applies to cell phone chatting and surfing outside the EU, e.g., overseas.
If you use your cell phone abroad just as you do at home, you may be in for a surprise. In the EU, including Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, you can chat just like at home. However, the data volume is limited in many contracts. If you exceed the limit, you will be charged up to €3.60 per gigabyte.
However, most providers have set a €60 cost limit for data roaming. Outside the EU, for example in England, Egypt, the Maldives or the USA, roaming can quickly become expensive. One minute costs up to 5 €, one megabyte of data up to 20 €!
Conclusion: Check contracts before traveling or switch to a better (international) rate (e.g. via durchblicker.at).
