Infection rates are rising again in Austria. ÖVP Chancellor Sebastian Kurz on rising corona numbers and the obligation to wear masks.
In an interview conducted by daily newspaper „Österreich“, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said that the corona virus will keep everyone busy until a drug or vaccine is available.
„The current situation is comparable to an accordion that is constantly on the move. There will always be steps forward and steps backward. It is the same in other countries with which we are in close exchange, such as Israel or Australia. We want to prevent a second lockdown for the world. That is why regional containment is particularly important to ensure that chains of infection are broken quickly. That is why we must also be faster in testing and are investing €390 million in faster tests,“ the Chancellor said.
In view of the start of the holidays, Chancellor Kurz called on the population not to forget the presence of the virus in the country and the pandemic continues.
„Even if the weather is fine and the end of school is a reason for joy, we must still remain vigilant. Consuming, eating, shopping is important for the business location, but we must still observe the necessary rules, especially the necessary distance,“ Kurz maintained.
„We should not throw away the masks, because we will probably need them again. Especially when other diseases and viruses will increase again in autumn. We know from studies that a mouth and nose protector helps to prevent corona virus infections and protects others,“ the Chancellor claimed.
