After the highest number of new infections in weeks, 175, had been registered the day before, the numbers slipped back into the double-digit range on Saturday. In the past 24 hours, 82 new infections with SARS-CoV-2 were reported throughout Austria, according to the Ministry of the Interior (as of 9:30 a.m.). More than half of them, 42, affected Vienna.
21 cases were reported in Lower Austria, 17 in Upper Austria, eight in Styria, three each in Salzburg and Vorarlberg and two in Carinthia. No new infections were recorded in Burgenland. In Tyrol there were 14 fewer cases than the day before, after a data adjustment of 14 cases.
There have been 21,212 positive test results in Austria so far. So far 718 people have died of or with the coronavirus throughout Austria, 18,911 have recovered. Currently 99 people are undergoing hospital treatment for coronavirus, 19 of them in intensive care units.
The City of Vienna reported 5,125 positive tests so far, as of Saturday, 8.00 a.m. The number of deaths related to the virus remained unchanged at 204. 4,333 people had recovered according to these figures. The dashboard of the Ministry of Health reported 210 confirmed deaths on or with the coronavirus for the federal capital as of Saturday, 11:00 a.m.
