Where do I have to wear a mask, and does this apply throughout Austria?
Throughout Austria in public places, in the health sector, in retail or customer areas, in schools outside of classes, at events, demos and services (hairdresser), if no distance is possible.
What are the consequences if my district gets a different color?
No immediate effects. A change is an indication that the situation and the associated risk of infection will relax or worsen. The commission recommends measures, but these do not come into force automatically.
Who decides which measures are taken in my district?
The basic framework is determined by the federal government according to the new Covid law (still to be decided). The states and municipalities can tighten the measures, but not relax them.
What rules currently apply in schools, and who decides on them?
Schools have their own hygiene handbook and a separate traffic light with measures. In addition to the federal measures (currently: compulsory masks outside of classes), they can issue their own as needed.
Which tightening steps are possible as the numbers increase?
At present, the measures are roughly based on the yellow traffic light level. With increasing numbers, “orange” rules could come, e.g: Closing time in the gastro, personal restrictions in trade, no contact sports.
Under what circumstances can a second lockdown occur
A complete shutdown as in spring is not provided for in the traffic light system.
