Taxi voucher, restaurant voucher – both checked off. Now comes the Vienna repair voucher. The city pays up to 100 euros to anyone who has defective items – from dishwashers, hair dryers and smartphones to TV chairs with holes – repaired by registered companies. The voucher is redeemable starting Monday, 21 September 2020.

How the voucher works: The voucher can be downloaded from September 21 on at mein.wien.gv.at/wienerreparaturbon. It can be redeemed in all partner stores that are members of the Vienna Repair Network (www.reparaturnetzwerk.at). All of them are local Viennese craftsmen, professionals and do-it-yourself initiatives.
The city pays 50 percent of the gross repair costs up to a maximum of 100 euros. If, contrary to expectations, the repair of the battered equipment should no longer pay off after all, the repair receipt will cover the costs of cost estimates up to 45 euros in full.
” Repair instead of throwing away. This protects the environment and often saves money,” explains Environment City Councillor Ulli Sima (SPÖ). She adds: “In addition, repairing stimulates the business of the companies and should boost their turnover, which is particularly important in times like these.”
In organizational terms, the voucher will be given to the environmental protection department. “We want to give people an incentive to give their defective items a second chance. This saves valuable resources,” says MA-22 boss Karin Büchl-Krammerstätter.
