Paris. France recorded the highest number of new infections within one day with 16,972 cases on Saturday. According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 606,625 cases were known. The number of deaths rose by 49 to 32,198. Meanwhile, in Ireland, the authorities spoke of a “significant escalation” of Covid-19 infections.
Acting Chief Health Officer Ronan Glynn announced 613 new cases, the highest number since April, when a nationwide lockdown was in effect.
The number of new infections also rose rapidly in the USA. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported 50,160 known cases and 816 additional deaths. This brings the total number of infections in the USA to 7.3 million and 208,118 deaths.
