Never before have there been so many active corona infections in Austria.
On Tuesday, there were more confirmed active SARS-CoV-2 infected persons in Austria than ever before since the beginning of the corona virus pandemic. The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health reported 9,207 cases at 9.30 a.m., exceeding the previous record of 9,123 infected persons on April 3. In the past 24 hours, 923 new infections were reported. Almost 500 Covid-19 patients had to be treated in hospital on Tuesday, 101 in intensive care units.
So far, there have been 49,819 positive test results in Austria. As of today (October 6, 2020, 09:30 a.m.), 822 people throughout Austria have died as a result of the corona virus and 39,790 have recovered. At present, 498 people are undergoing hospital treatment due to the corona virus and 101 of these patients are in intensive care units.
The new infections are divided among the provinces of Austria as follows:
Burgenland: 27
Carinthia: 16
Lower Austria: 170
Upper Austria: 100
Salzburg: 36
Styria: 52
Tyrol: 72
Vorarlberg: 51
Vienna: 399
