Government presented a variety of new corona measures. The mask obligation is extended, meetings massively reduced.
On Monday, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz presented a series of new tightenings in the fight against corona. The Chancellor appealed to the population to comply with the measures. The infections are increasing exponentially again. There is the threat of 6,000 new infections per day in December if no countermeasures are taken.
The new measures:
1.) Tightening of existing regulations at events and private gatherings:
- Without assigned seats, 6 people are allowed to meet indoors and 12 outdoorsevents with more people may only take place with assigned seats and they must be reported to the health authorities
- 250 persons remain subject to authorisation
- masks are compulsory for all indoor and outdoor events
- food and drinks at events – except for all-day training and advance education – are prohibited
- the maximum number for officially approved events is reduced to 1,000 indoor, 1,500 outdoor
2.) Regulations in the catering trade:
- only six persons are allowed at the table (plus underage children)
- no consumption in front of the restaurant after curfew
- obligatory prevention concept for restaurants with more than 50 seats (instead of 200)
3.) Protection of vulnerable groups in nursing homes:mouth and nose protection duty in all general areas
- testing for new residents
- uniform regulations for MNS duty for personnel and regular screenings
- health checks, pre-registration and MNS obligation for visitors
- hygiene and prevention concepts are obligatory for all facilities
For nurses: obligatory tests for people coming from abroad and working in body related services
All measures are valid from Friday, October 23rd, in any case for 4 weeks
4.) The federal states can and should continue to tighten regional
- further restrictions on events up to complete prohibition
- bringing forward the curfew
- ban on alcohol (and sales ban after curfew) and compulsory masks on busy outdoor places
- thinning and distance learning at universities and schools
- more stringent measures for old people’s and nursing homes beyond the federal regulations
- prohibition of entry for gastronomy and trade
