The number of CoV cases in Argentina has risen to over one million. After seven months of relatively strict exit restrictions, 1,002,662 cases of infection with the virus have been registered in the South American country, the Ministry of Health in Buenos Aires announced yesterday. This puts Argentina in fifth place worldwide after the much more populous countries USA, India, Brazil and Russia. Argentina has almost 44.5 million inhabitants.

So far, 26,716 patients have died in Argentina in connection with the disease Covid-19, which is caused by the coronavirus, the report continued. For about a month now, it has been the country with the highest number of deaths per million inhabitants. Latin America is currently one of the focal points of the global CoV pandemic. Besides Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Peru are particularly hard hit.

Argentina had already imposed quite harsh curfews in mid-March. This had initially succeeded in slowing down the spread of the corona virus. After months of restrictions, however, the discipline of the population decreased significantly and the number of new infections per day rose to about 14,000.
