One in two adults in the European Union has been vaccinated against corona virus at least once.
This figure was given by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Thursday (June 10). According to the EU health agency ECDC, that’s 183.1 million people. Just under 26 percent of adults – about 94.8 million – have full vaccination protection, which usually requires two shots, according to the figures.
Von der Leyen wrote on Twitter that the EU is on track toward the goal of having enough Corona vaccine to vaccinate 70 percent of adults by the end of July. A spokesman for the EU Commission clarified that this goal would apply even if approval for German manufacturer Curevac was delayed.
