Worldwide survey: On the recommendation of their government or employer, the majority of the world’s population would get vaccinated against Covid-19.
London. Most people would get vaccinated against Covid-19 on the recommendation of their government or employer, according to a worldwide survey. 71.5 percent of the participants in the study stated that they would very likely or rather probably take a corona vaccine. 61.4 percent said they would accept a recommendation from their employer.
In June, 13,000 people in 19 countries worldwide took part in the study of the Vaccine Confidence Project, which is funded by the European Commission and pharmaceutical companies, among others.
Older people were more likely to take a vaccine, while younger respondents were more likely to accept a recommendation from an employer. Particularly high approval came from China, where around 90 percent of the study participants would take a vaccine, while in Russia the figure was less than 55 percent.
So far, there is no corona vaccine on the market internationally. Only Russia was the first country in the world to approve a vaccine in August, but it has been tested on humans for less than two months.
The pharmaceutical industry worldwide is feverishly researching vaccines against the novel corona virus. However, the development in record time as well as the approval of the vaccine in Russia without the usual large efficacy study already raised safety concerns.
