After a record increase of 2202 new corona infections within one day, the Slovakian head of government Igor Matovic no longer rules out a lockdown for his country. In order to prevent a similarly rapid increase in the number of cases as in the neighboring Czech Republic, the only thing that might help is to “lock down the entire country”. Parliamentary president Boris Kollar of the second strongest governing party We Are a Family was more pessimistic. It may already be too late to prevent a lockdown.
The health authorities of the 5.4 million inhabitant country announced the
Total number of corona infected persons since the outbreak of the pandemic in spring on Wednesday with 33,602 cases. The number of corona deaths is estimated at 98Slovakia only counts deceased persons for whom the another cause of death was excluded.
