According to the Robert Koch Institute, the health authorities reported 11,409 new corona infections within one day in Germany early on Tuesday morning. On Tuesday a week ago, the number was 6,868. On Saturday, 14,714 new infections had reached a new record level since the beginning of the corona pandemic in Germany. The number of deaths exceeded the 10,000 mark at the weekend.
The current figures are only partly comparable with those from the spring, as considerably more tests are now being carried out and more infections are being detected. According to the RKI, a total of 449,275 people have been infected with the virus since the beginning of the pandemic in Germany (as of October 27, 00:00 hrs).
