Over the next two weekends, the Slovakian government plans to test almost the entire population of the country for the coronavirus. The national corona crisis staff has approved the plan after a pilot phase was successfully completed last weekend, head of government Igor Matovic announced on Monday evening.
From last Friday to Sunday, four districts on the Polish border that were particularly hard hit by the pandemic were initially tested. In the next two phases, all residents over ten years of age in the rest of the country will be subjected to a rapid antigen test within four days, on Saturdays and Sundays. The fact that the Fridays, which were initially also planned, were cancelled is apparently due to a shortage of personnel, which health experts had warned of. It is easier to find enough helpers on the two days off than on Friday, Health Minister Marek Krajci told journalists.
